Man Cannot Live on Snow Alone: Dining in Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is known for its skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and other
outdoors sports. It's got a reputation for fun, culture, and scenery. But what
surprises most people when they first visit this majestic area is how happy their
taste buds are after dining in Jackson Hole.
That's because the restaurants in Jackson Hole offer a range of foods and prices
to make anybody happy. There are brewpubs and taverns for a cold one and a hot plate
of comfort food. There are greasy spoons for down-home cooking. And there are an
increasing number of restaurants in Jackson Hole that cook up quality foods for
families and fine dining for the discerning taste buds.
Some of the best dining in Jackson Hole, believe it or not, is up on the mountain
resort itself. Here's proof:
Corbets Cabin is situated on top of the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram. At 10,450 feet up,
there's more to say for its view than the selection on its menu. But it's a nice
stopover to fuel up, catch your breath, and pick up some extra supplies during a
busy day of outdoor fun.
Nani's Pasta House, located half a mile from the town square is your little piece of
Italy in Jackson Hole. Offering homemade authentic, regional Italian cuisine it's a
sure way to warm your belly after a long day in the snow.
Nick Wilson's Cowboy Café is in Tram Tower building on the mountainside. It has the
Wild West casual theme that Jackson Hole is best known for, but that's not the only
reason to stop in and put your feet up at this restaurant. Breakfast and lunch keep
the crowds coming back, and in the winter months, Nick's features live music and
specials.
Solitude Cabin is another wintertime-only option, and that's too bad for summer
visitors. That's because the Cabin features a choice menu of beef, seafood, and other
fine foods. What's more, after you're finished with your meal, enjoy a romantic
sleigh ride around Teton Village.
Thunder Café is another great spot for skiers and boarders on the go. It's a favorite
of locals and tourists alike for its convenience (it's located right at the bottom
of Thunder Lift) and for its fast, but tasty, treats.
Don't feel you need to be at 10,000 feet to reach the best restaurants in
Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In town, there is also a wide selection of fast and fun, or
quiet and gourmet, dining.
Snake River Brewing fits in that fun category. With its world-famous microbrews, it
keeps the happy-hour crowd, well, happy. But the menu at Snake River is worth a
visit all to itself.
Mangy Moose was rated the number one restaurant in any ski resort in all of North
America. That says a lot, considering all of the competition in Colorado, Vermont
and British Columbia. But none of them can match the Mangy Moose for causal food,
the bar scene, and live rocking tunes.
The Rusty Parrot Lodge offers a much quieter and personal dining experience than
the Moose. Its breakfast menu is renown, but expect innovation and world-class
entrees at dinner as well.
The Calico is it for family dining in Jackson Hole. It's a comfortable Italian
restaurant that doubles as one of the best local bars in the area.
Don't think that this list details all of the restaurants in Jackson Hole. There
are almost as many dining choices here as there are inches of snow in the winter!
