Jamming in Jackson Hole: Music and Concerts in Jackson Hole
Music in Jackson Hole is about as easy to find as snow. Concerts in Jackson Hole
happen all summer long, and in the winter as well. Then you have the music venues
such as bars and restaurants, which crank out the tunes all year long. No matter
what your taste in tunes, whether it's rock n' roll, jam-band music, country-western,
or classical, you can be sure to find your type of music in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Some of the best musical experiences that you can have in this side of Wyoming,
though, are the mammoth music festivals that occur when the snows melt and the
ground thaws. Such big concerts in Jackson Hole draw folks from all over the
country, and are just as big a draw as the outdoor sports, fishing, and hiking.
Here is a list of some of the most notable music festivals:
The Grand Teton Music Festival could be the biggie of them all. In total, the
festival encompasses more than 40 concerts, which include a full orchestra,
children's shows, chamber music, and single performances. The orchestra is acclaimed
throughout the West, and for that matter, the country. The shows happen during the
week from July through August in Walk Festival Hall in nearby Teton Village (only 12
miles away from Jackson).
The Winter Medalist Series is the winter equivalent of the Grand Teton Music
Festival. These nighttime shows are held from the end of January to the beginning
of March, perfect timing for a little relaxation after clocking in a "hard" day out
on the slopes.
For bars with live music acts, you couldn't ask for any better than the ones in
Jackson Hole. Here's a short list of some of the best that the area has to offer:
The Mangy Moose Saloon is known to some locals as a great place to dine and be with
friends. To the rest of the world, the local bar is known as one of the best places
to see live music in Jackson Hole, whether it's bluegrass, reggae, or rock.
The Silverdollar Bar offers some local talent in the Wort Hotel. You can expect
to find bluegrass, piano, and even some out-of-town acts passing through. It's
perfect for some ambience for a romantic dinner or a quiet night out.
Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is hands-down the place all cowboys (and cowgirls) should
check out for music in Jackson Hole. It's home to Jackson Hole's country and western
scene.
Sidewinders Tavern and the Stagecoach is another place to look up when you're in
the mood for a show. Though it doesn't always have live talent in, when it does,
Sidewinders is worth checking out.
