The Divine Downhill: Skiing in Teton Valley
Skiing in Teton Valley is a secret worth keeping. Locals in the know may get
upset that we're spilling the beans on it, but it's truly not fair for them
to keep the secret all to themselves. The Teton Valley ski resorts offer
some of the best rated natural snow skiing in the United States. What's more,
throughout this region of Idaho are hundreds of acres of open public land
crisscrossed by quiet alpine and cross-country trails that you can have all to
yourself.

Teton Valley Ski Resorts and Beyond
Pebble Creek is a medium sized resort that offers something for everyone,
from the kids who are learning to ski as they learn to walk, to the gnarly
expert skier who hits the slopes so often he forgets how to walk. Located
close by in the Caribou National Forest, Pebble Creek offers 54 runs and
thousands of acres of powder. Because Pebble Creek is a lesser known resort,
it also offers the elbow room to truly enjoy the slopes.
Lost Trail is close by the Montana border, but is well worth the trip. Its
specialty is the intermediate ski terrain for both downhill runs and trails.
The snow here has a reputation all to itself, as well. It's renown for always
being deep, fresh, and light.
Jackson Hole is possibly the most famous resort in the West. So although the
drive there could cost you an hour of skiing, it goes without saying that
you won't be disappointed once you arrive. Bring your sunglasses, though.
Jackson Hole is known as the "sunny side" of the Tetons!
Grand Targhee is another resort worth the trip. It's actually in Wyoming,
like Jackson Hole, yet close enough to the other Teton Valley ski resorts.
Still doubtful? Consider the 500 inches of annual snow that bless the Grand
Targhee resort and the 3000 acres of trails and slopes there, and you will
quickly see the light.
Trail Runs Outside the Norm
Teton Pass offers the area's coolest and quietest backcountry runs for when
you get tired of the crowds at the resorts.
Towgotee Pass will suit your taste if you want to "hike" the beautiful
backcountry on your skis. There are a treasure trove of touring trails, as
well as speedier downhill passes.
Rendezvous Ski Trails offer groomed trails in a wild backcountry setting
located in the Gallatin National Forest. We're talking more than 15 miles of
loops, dips, and curves.
Kids Loop is perfect for little ones on their first times on skis. Located
along the Approach Trail, the loop also attaches to a short hill so they can
practice their snow plow technique.
Windy Ridge Loop is on the other end of the spectrum. In other words, don't
let your toddler anywhere near this monster! It is strictly ungroomed and
strictly for the best. But the challenge, and the awesome scenery, make it
worth the challenge.
