It's a little known fact about Idaho that it has more groomed snowmobiling
trails than all the other states in the West. Just regarding snow mobiling
in Teton Valley, in the eastern section of the state, there are hundreds of
miles of pristine runs.
And when we say pristine, we mean truly untrammeled wilderness. Valleys with
fresh blankets of snow open themselves up to you as if you are the first and
only rider to pass through them. Frozen lakes provide room to run for acres,
open plains for miles. And always the mountains and azure sky are above for
you to soak in during your rest breaks.
To experience all this and more, try your hand at snowmobiling in Teton
Valley on one of these nearby trails:
Jackass Loop snowmobile trail may have a comical name, but it provides
serious snow mobiling near to Teton Valley. This loop winds south of
Yellowstone National Park through a region dotted with many small mountain
lakes.
Rexburg-Driggs area snowmobile trails offers a network of 280 miles of
groomed riding trails, as well as thousands of square acres of wild,
off-trail snowmobiling in Teton Valley. Most of it centers around the local
towns of Tetonia, Rexburg, and Driggs. Some of the most popular of the
trails start near Lyons Creek, and feature a 1,000-foot downhill to
Springs Valley. When you or your snowmobile need refueling, stop off at
Green Canyon Hot Springs.
Island Park area snowmobile trails aren't world famous for nothing. Just
west of Yellowstone National Park, they allow you to ride through mountains
with more than 8,000-feet altitude. You also can pass by Henrys Fork on
Snake River, one of the most famous fishing holes on the planet. If you
want to swap riding for climbing or skiing, stop off at Two Top Mountain,
where there are choice hills and powder bowls.
Idaho Falls area snowmobile trails make up 400 miles of mountainous,
timbered countryside intermingled with wide open valleys where you can
throttle your snowmobile. Three of the most famous loops are the
Brockman-Skyline, Bone-Alpine, and Wolverine-King Canyon trails. But if
these aren't enough, you can connect to the Franklin, Bear Lake, and
Caribou snowmobile trails.
Yellowstone, that most famous of national parks, is also a mecca for
snowmobiling in Teton Valley and around Jackson Hole. A snowmobile
offers you unprecedented access to the park's wonders.
