Retirement Communities in Jackson Hole, Wyoming: For the Young at Heart
Jackson Hole has the reputation as being a young person's paradise of long white slopes
and fun endless parties, but the older, sophisticated set is far from excluded from the ski
resort area in Wyoming. Quite on the contrary, Jackson Hole is prime paradise if you're
thinking retirement. The real estate market is as hot as any on the coasts.
But instead of a small condo in a big-city high rise, real estate in Jackson Hole includes
ranches with your own private forest, cottages that offer ski in, ski off access to the
mountain, or family homes with their own slice of a pristine fly-fishing river.
That's one of the main allures for Jackson Hole for retirees. It's a great place to be part
of a hot cultural and social scene. Yet you can buy into an area where your peace of mind
and privacy are preserved. They don't call it Big Sky country for nothing. The Teton Mountain
range looms on the horizon, offering the world's top skiing, fishing, hiking, and biking.
And in the valley, the "Hole", enjoy championship golf, art galleries, New York-grade
restaurants, and the company of other retirees in your resort community or neighborhood.
You can't afford such luxury, you say. Nonsense! Haven't you heard how reasonable Jackson
Hole can be for retirees because of the state and local tax codes? Wyoming has no state
personal income tax, and retirement income is not taxed at all - even income from other
states. Property taxes cannot increase by more than 1.2% of assessed value year to year.
And importantly for retirees and their families, Wyoming has no inheritance or estate tax.
Now thinking that Jackson Hole may be your retirement community of choice? Your next move,
then, is to investigate all of the real estate and resort community options that are
available. Just with resort communities, there are a tremendous amount of options.
Take the 3 Creek Ranch. This resort community offers three main real estate packages to
choose from. Its cabin home sites average more than one-half an acre and feature six
different floor plans, natural timbers, and their own spacious porches. Its estate sites
go from two to five sites and offer another level of privacy. The top of the lots come with
35 acres and their own cottonwood forests. These estates are perfect for setting up your
own ranch, Big Sky style.
Snake River Sporting Club offers a retirement community in Jackson Hole of a different
stripe. As you can guess from the name, this resort community is for you. Winter, spring,
summer, or fall, Snake River has outdoor activities to participate in. The Tom Weiskoph
18-hole championship golf course could keep the retired businessman or doctor busy trying
to lower their handicap. The community on-staff director could help you find the best kept
secret holes for fly-fishing. Or for some more wet and wild fun, hit the Snake River in a
raft or inner tube, or soak in the natural hot springs.
Snake River, as with many of the retirement community and resort real estate neighborhoods
in Jackson Hole, are so packed with manmade and natural features, that you may never have
to leave the premises.
