Wyoming Ski Resorts: Race Your Way to Real Estate's "The Big One"

Just call it "The Big One". Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is possibly the number one ski resort in all of America. The terrain is steep, the powder is deep, and the backcountry trails, bowls, and runs go on and on for acre after acre. This famed resort is Wyoming's most famous, and possibly one of the most convenient. It is located in Teton Village, just a dozen or so miles away from Jackson. But Wyoming has its share of many other heady ski resorts that attract vacationers and real-estate buyers alike.

Grand Targhee Resort, for instance, is on the edge of Wyoming near Driggs, Idaho, and just on the other side of the Teton Mountains from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Grand Targhee features two mountains and 2000 acres of lift served terrain to ski on. Located an hour from Jackson Hole, the resort is a family favorite and is ranked by the main ski magazines as a top three destination in the country.

For a smaller, more intimate skiing setting, try Snow King Resort Ski Area overlooking Jackson, Wyoming. The very first ski area opened in Wyoming, Snow King has more history going for it than sheer size - it only covers 150 acres of terrain. But it's very convenient for a quick tromp at night before hitting the nightlife in Jackson.

Another smaller skiing experience can be had at White Pine ski area. Close to Pinedale, Wyoming, which is about 76 miles south of Jackson Hole, White Pine offers less crowds, smaller lift lines, and less attitude. What it does have are cross-country ski trails, 25 downhill trails, and a variety of trails for the beginner and intermediate skier.

What do all these ski resorts mean for you if you're looking for real estate in Wyoming? It makes for one hot market, that's for sure. Take the town of Jackson, for instance. Snow King Resort now has a development of moderate to ultra-luxury condos, called Jackson Hole Rental Condos, which can also be rented as vacation rentals.

Then there's Teton Village, the aforementioned home of the famed Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. One of the hottest places to buy and/or rent in this small, cowboy-chic town are condominium "hotels". These condos are full ownership or timeshare, such as the Cody House Condominiums, or "ski-in, ski-out" condos. Another such condo complex is the Teton Club Resort.

For straight vacation rentals, there are the Grand Targhee Vacation Rentals. With unbeatable views of the Grand Teton Mountains, they offer a direct line into all of the skiing fun, not to mention fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and any other activity you can think of, winter or summer.
