Search for real estate in Jackson Hole.
Stretching from the base of the pass in Wilson south, there is perhaps the most exclusive,
most alluring real estate in all of Jackson Hole. It's the south section of the West Bank,
where homeowners have unspoiled views of the monumental Teton Mountains and enjoy the privacy
afforded by the expansive ranches and conservation grounds.
Did we mention too that West Bank South also has some of the biggest parcels of land to be
found in the area? Land alone here, though, tops out at more than $5 million, which is also
not that much more than the average price of a single-family home (around $3 to $4 million).
Unlike the north section of the West Bank, the south section does not have very many condo
developments, which only tends to make the area even more exclusive. Throw in a half-hour
drive just to get to town, and you have the perfect spot for your own private dude ranch in
the mountains.
The Fall Creek Road area possibly best typifies this combination of luxury and mountain
retreat. It is well-known for its horse ranches, boarding stables, and for subdivisions that
allow horses on the premises. Fishermen will also feel privileged to live here, as the streams
and tributaries of Snake River flow between and around developments such as the Crescent H
Ranch. The trout swim so thick here that you can just scoop them out with a net - no need for
a rod and reel - and throw them right on the grill!
There are the huge developments here despite the price and isolation of the land, such as
Teal Trace, Pine Meadows, Crescent H, and Rivermeadows. And there are also lone trophy homes
that offer private access to the Snake River. These latter locations can run buyers as much
as $10 million.
If that price tag makes you sweat, then follow the bend of the Fall Creek Road and the Snake
River to more reasonably priced homes and plots in the West Bank. Such developments as Red
Top Meadows, which is about a dozen miles due south of Wilson, offer the same deep-forest
setting and mountain view as the eight-digit homes for a few digits less. Other choices for
smaller, less expensive developments include Singing Tree which offers single family trophy
homes, as well as the individual homes that pop up now and again by the side of the road in the
West Bank
